Michelle Malkin and the rest of the HotAir.com crew have begun a new campaign over at DeportThemNow.Com. They have also started a new PSA series of videos. Here is the first one:
Michelle had this to say about the movement:
If I were a member of the nutroots, I’d label this an Important Action Alert (TM). But that’s trademarked by the nutroots, so let’s just call this a call to arms. During and after the shamnesty debacle, I got tons of e-mails from readers asking, “What can I do?” Here’s my answer: Go to www.deportthemnow.com, sign up, and help pressure the government at all levels to deport convicted criminal aliens.
Head over to MichelleMalkin.Com to read her full article about this.

Mike’s official stance on protecting our borders and deportation can be found in the link at the bottom of the post.
However, this is not the official blog. I evidently need to make that more clear. Sorry for the confusion.

Haha.
So you’ve been put in charge of issuing statements for the Huckabee campaign? Nice. I mean really, official or not, I don’t see how this flying around the internet could do anything other than bring Gov. Huckabee more support.
You’ve apparently underestimated the power of your own blog. Start some rumors about Ron Paul and Sam Brownback and see if that gets picked up by anyone. Then if that works, let’s start working on FDT and Romney.

Right…they would be in serious trouble if I was in charge of issuing statements
. On this issue, his stance does line up with the DeportThemNow purpose statement at the top of their page (actually, I really don’t see how anyone could disagree):
“Law-abiding Americans and legal immigrants are sick of the revolving door that allows convicted criminal aliens to be set free to wreak havoc and violence across the country. These crimes were 100% preventable. How many more criminal alien rapists, kidnappers, and murderers will be let loose before politicians finally act?”

Hey Mike, just kidding!!
Thanks for posting this, I had not been to MM yet. I filled it out and hopefully thousands of more will also. How many of our children have to be raped or killed before they take this seriously instead of undermining our troops and playing slumber party games all night.

Heh, yeah. If you’ve ever been to FreeRupublic, you’ll see how they disagree. And it’s actually quite a fervent disagreement. But they’re too busy praising their anointed savior over there (Arthur Branch) that they don’t really care to look at the facts before misrepresenting another candidate’s stance on an issue. I’m sure there are probably many others (outside of FR) that still believe Mike Huckabee is a supporter of weak immigration/amnesty legislation. Unfortunately they’ve twisted several things from his Governorship to arrive at this conclusion (nevermind what he’s actually come out and said on the issue).

Yeah, I know about the freepers. Some user calling himself “gravy boat jones” copied one of my posts over there. I received a few emails about Fred this and Fred that. He presented it with, “I didn’t write this… regardless, let the flaming begin.”
You know, like you said, they have twisted quite a bit from his time as Governor. Immigration is a complicated and very divisive issue, to say the least…especially in the south. So, as Governor, Mike had to deal with real immigration issues. Whereas, Fred has not. In all of his roles…actor, lobbyist and senator, he won’t and can’t be held accountable for a single action or statement, on anything for that matter. I mean, until he reaches the general election and he needs votes from people other than the blinder wearing republicans that are currently supporting him.
I’m really pissed that he won’t enter the race. Part of that is sour grapes, because I know it is a smart move for him…regardless of its squirreliness. But, I really don’t think it is healthy for the Republican nominee to have not gone through the political combine of the primaries.

Oohhhh, the people at Free Republic are called “freepers”? I thought that was a term for people who really like the Detroit Free Press (http://www.freep.com/). Kidding.
That link had some pretty “out there” comments. You have to wonder where they get that stuff and why they’re so adamant that it’s all true. Upon further review, not only is there a ton of Thompson support over there, but Duncan Hunter seems to have a pretty strong showing as well. Surprising, considering the guy is nowhere in the polls.
I guess I’m a bit concerned with the fact that (according to Alexa Web Info) Free Republic is one of the most visited conservative web sites on the ‘net, and they are foaming at the mouth over Fred. I hope it’s some sort of anomaly and that FR doesn’t represent the general population in the GOP.
